BOSS The Movement Comes To The Nation's Capital
Denise McDowell, Regional Master Trainer for the National Capital Area

BOSS the Movement was first introduced to the Washington area when the late Bishop Clarence C. Givens invited Al Hollingsworth to speak at the 26th Anniversary Celebration of Rhema Christian Center Church.

Bishop Givens has always steadfastly kept to the vision that God gave him to perfect the saints to carry out the Great Commission of spreading the Gospel throughout the world (Ephesians 4:12-16).  So, after hearing the vision of BOSS The Movement and message of hope that the BOSS program would bring to the youth, Bishop Givens called a meeting and asked for volunteers to begin a BOSS Program at Rhema.  Denise McDowell answered the call.  She attended a Vertical Leap Adult Seminar, became a Certified BOSS The Movement Youth Trainer, and starting her first class in October, 2005.  Since that time, Denise has been promoted to Regional Master Trainer for the National Capital Area.  She and her team of dedicated trainers have had three graduating classes of BOSS students, and there are currently several classes underway throughout Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

The program has been so successful that BOSS students and graduates were invited to speak and perform at the 2007 and 2008 National Day of Prayer on the Mall in Washington D.C. (see National Day of Prayer 08)

Community Leaders Catch The Vision

After hearing about the BOSS program, Mrs. Virginia Hayes Williams, mother of former Washington, DC Mayor Anthony Williams, along with a number of local area community leaders, requested a meeting with Denise to hear more about the program and its benefits to the youth in our community.

They came away from the meeting with a vision for the nation's young people.  As a result, a new BOSS class was started within a few weeks!

The demand for the BOSS program is great and we are currently in need of more Certified BOSS Youth Trainers in the metropolitan area.
